These songs first saw life in our cabaret project The Gorgeous Georgie Revue, which took place in Peterborough, Ontario in the early part of the 21st century. Each song was written with a particular citizen of that strange and wonderful town in mind; some had years of singing and dancing experience under their belts, but most were new to the hot old lights of the stage. Every year for five years, we called on the courage and talents of our community to make the Gorgeous Georgie Revue a reality—chaos, ragged edges, feather boas and all. It was a testament to the magic that can happen when a bunch of us ordinary folks decide to be extraordinary together. Years later, we wanted to mess around again with a little of that magic, and chose a handful of our favourite Gorgeous Georgie songs to revisit. It was a similarly surreal and lovely experience, and wouldn't have been possible without the skill, kindness, and adventurousness of our Duckworth Sextet. Thank you to everyone, everywhere, who has enriched our lives with your friendship, your voices, and your music.
